AWSEC2S3RDS Aurora MySQLVPCSecurity groups

The problem

The client needed an AWS environment designed properly from the start rather than assembled piece by piece: compute, storage, a managed database and a private network, with sensible security boundaries between them.

What I did

  • Designed the VPC network and security groups so each tier only accepts the traffic it needs.
  • Provisioned EC2 instances for the application tier.
  • Designed the S3 bucket layout with lifecycle policies to move or expire objects automatically and control storage cost.
  • Set up RDS Aurora MySQL with read replicas to spread read traffic and improve resilience.

Result

A complete, documented AWS architecture covering compute, storage, database and networking, delivered with a 5-star review.
